Politics at it's finest?

The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) of the United Kingdom, which didn't exist until three years ago and costs the taxpayer more than £500 million a year - that's over £1.5 billion of taxpayer money since its inception. Its reason for being? To ‘help to improve the way policing works'.

Funnily enough, as part of its efforts to improve policing, the NPIA recently wrote a paper suggesting cutting police numbers by 28,000 and having forces made up of 50% uniformed staff and 50% civilian staff in order to achieve savings in the police force of £545 million... which is roughly the budget of the NPIA.
